We’re already in the early stages of planning next year’s show at Dartmouth Castle, Richard III. Auditions will be on Saturday 1 and Sunday 9 February, from 10.30-3 both days, at Bridgetown Community Hall in Totnes. You can come along to whichever day suits you best. Please email the director, Holly Hoskins, at theinntheatrecompany@gmail.com for an audition pack which contains all the information you need about the auditions including what to prepare, key production dates and what to include on the audition form, as well as a character breakdown and audition speeches.
Performance week will be 26 July to 2 August, so you’ll need to be available for those dates, as well as for rehearsals. Rehearsals are on Monday and Thursday evenings from 7 April, as well as one Sunday a month. Please forward this newsletter on to anyone else you think might be interested in auditioning. And please get in touch if you’re interested in helping with costumes, backstage, or in any other non-performing capacity too.
Richard III is a wonderful play and there could hardly be a better setting for it than a real medieval castle. The play is full of family feuding, black comedy and high drama, and Richard himself is an irresistibly ruthless monster. Richard III is Shakespeare’s second-longest play which we have edited into a fast-paced, action-packed version that is a more accessible length for an open-air performance at the castle.
