Sicily 1944. Messina is recovering but the war still rages elsewhere in Europe.
Meantime two couples take advantage of the lull to fall in love. One pair, newly met, rush towards marriage. The other two are old flames and are dragged reluctantly. There is plotting and intrigue, some of it light and well-intentioned, some dark and malicious. Cue love and hate, trust and betrayal, sex and lies in a sometimes chilling, always passionate, darkly witty comedy.
Join us at Dartmouth Castle for a summer evening’s performance of this surprisingly modern play. The open-air setting will bring the vibrant Sicilian backdrop and wartime setting to life, with original music performed live, to make the experience ‘as merry as the day is long’.
